NY Villans Update - Premiership Round 26
Tomorrow at the crack of dawn 07:30 EST an unmerciful hour on a Saturday where the only people awake are the homeless, the demented joggers, bakers and European football fans. Our opposition Newcastle United a club with more twists and turns than an episode of Eastenders, under the leadership of Kevin 'Prozac' Keegan. Villa currently lie in 6th place, 2 points behind RedScouse and 3 behind BlueScouse in 4th. Our opponents despite being shocking this season are all the way up to 12th. It's sure to be an entertaining affair with Keegan renowned for adopting an attacking formation of 1-1-8 with a total of 6 wingers, for once Villa's long ball tactic might actually pay off. Villa may be without Agbonlahor and Petrov for the game both suffering injuries so Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Shaun Maloney and Marlon 'Rabies' Harewood could start, it remains to be seen if new signing Wayne Routledge will make an appearance after a fine game for the reserves midweek (highlights here: mms://video.premiumtv.co.uk/astonvillacontent/050208res_hi.wmv ). This game will be shown on Setanta so unless you have it on Dish or an Internet subscription the pub beckons, as always the bulk of us will be at Nevada Smith's perhaps enjoying some stimulating intellectual conversation with our Geordie counterparts but more than likely trying with great difficulty to understand a word of what they are saying.
In other Villa related news Moustafa Salifou signed a one year extension to his contract this week and wonder kid Nathan Delfounso (from here on simply known as "the Fonz" - Aaay!) has joined the first team at no. 14 after signing a professional contract. Who needs the transfer window?
In league news the Premier League is currently investigating the prospect of an extra round of matches in the 2010/11 season to be played... overseas, so now instead of getting beaten twice by Man United in the league we can be beaten 3 times only one of the games will be played in some god forsaken third world country where half of our players will undoubtedly succumb to dysentery.
